The Secret Life of Moles was my first full-length book of poetry. It was an honor when internationally recognized poet Van K. Brock, accepted the book for Anhinga Press, which he founded in the mid-1970s. Then-Editor-in-Chief Julie Smith made me feel even better when she told me that it was the best manuscript she had read that year--which included the 400 plus submissions to Anhinga's Annual Poetry Contest. It was the only book that Anhinga published in 1992.

          Since that time the book has been widely distributed and has gathered a sort of cult following. The readings I have given--from Alaska to Florida--have been a blast! Three of the poems from The Secret Life of Moles can be sampled by clicking on the links below.
